Privacy Policy Setup.

When it comes to keeping your website compliant with privacy laws, it’s important to make sure all the details in your policies are accurate. While I’ve filled in the initial answers for you, it’s ultimately your responsibility to review and update them as needed. In this post, I’ll walk you through how to access your Termageddon account, check the questions and answers, and keep your policies up to date.

The first steps listed below quick guide on how to access and edit your policies and at the end of this post there’s an in-depth 40min video that specifically walks you through the setup if that’s an option you prefer.

Accesing Termaggedon

  • Termageddon sent you an invitation via email to access your license.
  • You need to ‘accept’ the invite and create a Termageddon account.
  • To review the policy questions, click the name of your license on the dashboard page.

Global Business Setting

  • You can view and edit your ‘global questions’ by clicking the purple ‘edit button.

  • Edit details and click save at the end

Editing Your Policies

  • You can view and edit the answers to all policies by clicking ‘Edit Policy Details’.

  • Be sure to click ‘next’ and ultimately ‘submit’ so that your answers are saved, and then your policies will automatically update.

Override Feature & Future Updates

If you wish, you can use the ‘override’ feature to change any of the copy of the generated policies. If you have an attorney that wants to change the default copy, this is a great place to do it. When a future privacy law requires an update to an overridden section, Termageddon will notify you that new copy has been suggested (they will not replace what you originally overwrote without your consent first).

Important

Remember that updating your site can be a delicate process. Whenever you're working on updates or adding content make sure that you are aware of the following:

Test Your Updates

While you update your site and have "saved" some of your edits, remember to test the site using a private or incognito window.

Clear Your Cache

If you have made a series of updates and saved your work but it's not showing when you test your site, make sure you clear (sometimes referred to as "Flush") the Cache on your site. You can find the tutorial here.

Optimize Images for Web

If any of the updates you are working on require uploading images into your site, remember to always optimize those files for web. It will keep your site healthy! You can find the tutorial for this here.

Create A Backup

As with everything in technology, at times, things don't go as expected. You might stumble across a critical error or accidentally delete part of your work. This is why I always recommend creating a backup of your site before starting a series of updates.

If you're part of any of my Care Plans, my team and I create daily backups of your site. If you encounter any issues and need to use a backup, just contact us here and we will restore your site from its latest backup.
